March 20 is International Day of Happiness and this year's theme is “Happier Together”, focusing on what we have in common, rather than what divides us. In The Happiness Bible, wellbeing author Cheryl Rickman explores what we can do to widen and deepen our connection with each other.

Community Matters

Today, with social media becoming all-consuming, we are more connected than we have ever been, in a virtual sense; but in reality, studies have revealed that many people still feel alone. All the more reason to make an effort to increase real-world connections. As well as forging strong bonds with those we are especially fond of, it’s important to build “bridging connections” to unite different groups within a community.

Today is International Day of Happiness as well as the first day of spring, making it the perfect time to focus on the little things that bring joy to our lives.

Happy New Year, fellow book lovers, and congratulations on making it through 2017! It was a year when good news seemed to be in short supply, and we’re determined that 2018 will be a better, brighter, happier year.

Rather than making a New Year’s Resolution that we know we’ll break  — who really has time to train for a marathon? — we thought we’d make one we’ll actually want to keep. Our resolution: make 2018 a year of happiness.

To kick-start our #HappierNewYear, we’re looking to Everyday Happiness, a book filled with inspirational quotes, positive pick-me-ups, and fun tasks for each day of the year. And because we think everyone could use a bit more happiness, we’ve pulled together a month-long Instagram challenge that anyone can get involved with.
