Every family has its own traditions for the holidays.

Some families decorate colourful eggs, some enjoy the same traditional foods each year, and some dress their dog up as the Easter bunny.

The saying goes that a dog is man’s best friend, but in our experience, a dog is more like a mischievous younger sibling that gets sticky fingerprints on all your belongings and messes up your newly tidied bedroom but is far too cute to be upset with.

The celebrations often include adopt-a-thons, spay/neuter clinics, and fundraisers for humane societies and shelters.

As part of IHAD, our book of the month for August is Rover: Wagmore Edition, a stunning collection of dog portraits from photographer and founder of the Rover Works Project Andrew Grant.
