“Photographer Andrew Grant allows us a glimpse into the beautiful eyes and souls of hundreds of dogs, many of which are shelter and rescue dogs awaiting their forever homes . . . A beautiful coffee table book . . . A collection of some of his most heartwarming and soulful dog portraits.”

August is a big month for animal lovers, with three pet-inspired celebrations taking place. First is International Cat Day on August 6th, while National Dog Day falls on August 26th. (You can find all of our cat and dog books here.)
Between these two days is International Homeless Animals Day, being celebrated this year on August 18th. IHAD was founded in 1992 as a way to raise awareness about pet overpopulation. The celebrations often include adopt-a-thons, spay/neuter clinics, and fundraisers for humane societies and shelters.
As part of IHAD, our book of the month for August is Rover: Wagmore Edition, a stunning collection of dog portraits from photographer and founder of the Rover Works Project Andrew Grant.
With Rover: Wagmore Edition, Firefly Books has made a commitment to supporting animal rescue. For every copy of the book sold, we make a donation to dog rescue — a cause close to our hearts as animal lovers and publishers of expert-penned books about all kinds of animals.
Animals enrich our lives in so many ways, and with Rover: Wagmore Edition we aim to give back and bring awareness to the millions of shelter animals who haven’t yet found their forever families.
We’re giving away a free copy of our book of the month, as we do every month, but in the spirit of International Homeless Animals Day, we also encourage you to purchase a copy of Rover for yourself — or for a fellow dog lover — or to make a donation to animal rescue.
Support a great cause with a good book!
About the Rover Works Project:
The Rover project began in 2009 when Andrew Grant was photographing two French bulldogs for an ad campaign, and he learned that millions of lost or abandoned dogs enter shelters each year, but very few are rescued or adopted. As a way to contribute, he began creating limited-edition books of dog portraits, which raised over $2 million for dog rescue over 6 years.
