Modern pewter is also inexpensive, lead-free and readily available. Pewter Craft is a collection of 40 original projects that are easy to follow, quick to complete and encourage improvisation. I have absolutely no artistic talent whatsoever. Zero. Which is why I love living in a city and a state with so many talented, creative people who might be inspired by a book like Sandy Griffiths' Pewter Craft. Now don't let your imagination run away with you. There's no smelting involved. This is boxes, jewelry, household, kitchen and decorative items, even furniture, made from or accented with sheet pewter. Pewter is a soft, lustrous, silvery metal that the author says can easily be worked at home with some simple tools and even colored with glass paint. The book gives step-by-step instructions, pictures of each project, and even templates of each decorative motif so you can trace them to get a start on creating your own personal designs.
