Way-cool ideas to keep babysitters happy! Leo and his younger sister, Daisy, are left with a new babysitter for the whole day, and their mom is relying on them to ensure that Halley has a great time. That's quite a task. But Leo and Daisy are up to the challenge! Over the course of the day, Leo, Daisy, and Halley make all kinds of magic. They turn an ordinary piece of bread into a colorful butterfly sandwich; make an animated movie from a pile of paper; and transform mashed potato into an erupting volcano! As the characters in the story perform an activity, simple step-by-step instructions appear alongside. Each requires only easy-to-find, around-the-house objects and little cleanup! Funky, bright-colored illustrations embellish the humor and allow the reader to follow different stages of each activity. An amusing, original story with a trio of well-defined, quirky characters sets the scene for 38 easy, creative, no-mess, home activities. |

One of the most unique books I have come across for a long time.
- Karen MacKinnon Resource Links 2003 12
A unique combination of games, crafts, cookbook and even a story that will charm children, babysitters, grandparents and friends for hours.
- Kids VT 2003 12
More than a full day's worth of amusement... most of the supplies are things you already have around the house.
- Kathy Antoniotti Dallas Morning News 2004 08 04
Very unique because all the fun happens indoors -- what a great resource on a rainy day.
- Waukegan News-Sun 2004 01 03
An inventive combination of game book, craft book, cookbook, that's guaranteed to charm children.
- Boise Family Magazine 2004 01
An inviting compendium of games, crafts, and recipes, all tied together with a story and illustrated with colorful cartoon artwork... uniqueness, creativity, and appeal to both children and babysitters.
- Augusta R. Malvagno School Library Journal 2004 01
Finally a book to banish those moments in life when you think that you'll never make it until bedtime, or until the rain stops, or until March break ends.... Dette Hunter has written a gem of a book aimed at making a day indoors enjoyable for all. This book had not been in our house for more than two hours when my six-year-old spotted it and demanded we get started on the crafts right away. Happily, the supplies needed really are those you'd find in most homes, and we quickly had wizard hats made out of newspaper. The crafts can be very simple...but all have some kid appeal and are sure to please most kids, regardless of gender, age or energy levels.... The Red Cross could do worse than to hand out this terrific book out to all who complete its babysitting course. Our babysitter is coming tonight. I only hope she's ready to be entertained. Highly Recommended.
